Teacher Tips

After Reading: Hold up a paper bag. Explain that you just went shopping at the Zero Store and have purchased zero pineapples, zero cans of tuna, zero tubs of ice cream, and zero tubes of toothpaste. Ask: Is there anything in my bag? Then open it up to show its emptiness. Now, invite students to pass the bag around and use their imaginations to suggest what they would buy at the Zero Store—the sillier the better!
