LitCamp en español is a summer literacy program that encourages Spanish-speaking students to embrace the richness of their first language while building their motivation, curiosity, and confidence. In every lesson, students develop fluency with a variety of Spanish and bilingual texts and activities to practice reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
The 4-8 week program combines reading and writing lessons with engaging camp routines. Each LitCamp en español Cabaña kit includes: • Authentic Spanish-language literature and favorite books sensitively translated into Spanish • Read-aloud and whole-group instruction to support reading, writing, speaking, and listening • Creative literacy-building activities that use a joyful, strength-based approach to promote success • Dedicated time for independent reading and writing to build a community of readers
Components include: • 15 LitCamp en español student portfolio folders • 15 LitCamp en español wristbands with the LitCamp logo • A grade-specific LitCamp en español Leader's Guide offering instructional support and assessment tools • Family Guides in Spanish • Digital resources to support instruction in Spanish • Every Child a Super Reader, 2nd Edition, by Pam Allyn and Dr. Ernest Morrell
