This play tells the story of Ida B. Wells— teacher, writer, and strong woman who struck several blows for the civil rights movement in the late 1800”s. She successfully sued the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad for discrimination on the basis of color. Then she began writing empassioned and hard-hitting articles for the Memphis Free Speech newspaper. A founding member of the NAACP, she even ran for the Illinois State Senate. Ida B. Wells was a woman who stood up for what she believed in, and inspired others to do so as well.
