Here is a gorgeous picture book that teaches early learning concepts and celebrates the magic of imagination.

A little girl watches through her window and sees birds that represent different colors, numbers, sizes, and shapes. As the story progresses and the little girl uses her imagination to dream of the magic that birds could create, the concepts get more sophisticated. For example, she says, "If birds made marks with their tail feathers when they flew, think what the sky would look like." Throughout the story, the girl imagines herself as a bird, and in the end she realizes that even though she can't fly like a bird, she can sing like one! This story, written by beloved Newbery author Kevin Henkes and illustrated by his wife, Laura Dronzek, will captivate young children again and again.
