Last year I did a fundraiser to give every student in my classroom the $1 book every month to add to their home libraries at no cost to their families. This was great, but it didn’t give students ownership or choice in the titles they were adding to their library. My goal this year is to let every child choose their own book out of the reading club magazine to order and take home for their library. I’d like to do that for their personal libraries this year. Students will be able to pick books that are of high interest to them and are representative of themselves and their values. I hope this will give them ownership and excitement about their books and encourage their love of reading.read less
