Hi! My name is Kimberley Contreras and I’ve taught 1st, 3rd and 4th grade at Frank Macias Elementary School for about 18 years. One of the most, if not the best thing I do, on a daily basis is read to students. Being able to explore different genres, listen to how a plot begins to unravel, or providing the chance for a great book to tie in directly to another content area….is simply the best! Children’s eyes widen, smiles spread across faces, and connections are made from every angle of the classroom. When you become a Book Ambassador by contributing to my campaign, you’ll help me raise $500 to ensure children have the opportunity to immerse themselves in reading! Reading books of the same genre from an array of cultures or seeing the many interesting ways authors provide connections to math and science standards are just some of the ways the teachers and students will dive into reading!
