Next year, I will be transitioning from a 3rd grade teacher to the Reading Specialist at my school. My role will include providing targeted small group instruction for striving readers. I would like to build my library by filling it with children's books related to social-emotional skills and other diverse topics. These books will be used by myself and other teachers in my school for read aloud lessons in classrooms and during targeted reading instruction. Our students desperately need access to rich, diverse texts. These texts will help build their background knowledge and vocabulary knowledge-two huge components in reading comprehension and overall reading success!
