Hello! My name is Alexis and I'm a third year teacher. I teach 4th grade at Loch Lomond Elementary School, which is a Title I school in Virginia. We have a majority of English Language Learners at our school who do not have the opportunity to have their own books. I want to instill a love of reading into my class this year. Since we are starting virtually this year, the kids will only have access to books online. I want to be able to give my students a new book each month of school so that they can have books of their own to read and keep at home. I will have about 28 students in my class this year and they have a wide range of reading abilities. I'm hoping to get a book fairy to sponsor each student, so I can get books for them that are on their level. The cost of books for the year would only be $20 per student and I know they'd be super excited to have new books of their own. Please consider sponsoring a student to help them learn to love reading. My goal is to raise $600 so that I can purchase my students a new book each month that I can send to them so they can love reading and have their own books at home.
