Hola Friends, I am Becky Gates. I teach 1st grade at Williams Elementary School in Mattoon, Ill. I am so excited to get back into my classroom this fall. Remote learning was tough for us all! The one thing I heard from many students was: "Ms. Gates,I have one book." "I have no books." I only have baby books." So, I scrambled to find books of all reading levels and genres to put into their hands. The books I have in my classroom library are books that I have purchased myself. I have several books from garage sales. Some books were handed down to me from people who have children that has outgrown them. I always beamed with joy anytime a book was added to my library, old or new. My goal is to purchase books for all reading levels. I had 1st grade students jump up to chapter books this year. IMAGINE THAT! My students and I would appreciate any donation to help our classroom library grow.
