In Kent County, Delaware, our community is rich in diversity and potential, yet many students face challenges that hinder their educational journeys. I’d like to share a story that reflects the heart of our community and the transformative power of education. In the heart of Kent County, there’s a small school where dreams are nurtured, but resources are scarce. I remember a day when I visited this school and met a young girl named Mia. Mia is an eager learner, full of questions and curiosity. However, the limited access to books and learning materials in her school made it difficult for her to explore her interests fully. She often talked about wanting to read about space, animals, and cultures from around the world, but the outdated library only had a few options. This experience ignited a passion in me to make a difference. I envisioned a project called “Books for Bright Futures,” aiming to provide a diverse range of books and educational resources to schools in Kent County. With the support of Scholastic, we could create a vibrant library that sparks curiosity and encourages a love for reading among students like Mia.
