As you know, this school year will challenge students and teachers to think creatively on how to learn and connect virtually. Along with the changes on how school will look this year, I have found changes in who I am teaching! I have loved teaching middle school math the last three years but this year, my audience will be much shorter! This year I will be starting my first year of 1st grade! One of the big needs I have as we approach this school year is the need to build my classroom library with a diverse collection of books across a variety of levels. Doing this will allow me to send books home with students to help foster their love for learning and reading during distance learning. It will also help me fill my empty bookshelves that await my students' arrival back in person, hopefully someday soon! This is why I’m asking my community to help me raise money to purchase books to build my classroom library to foster a love of reading for my firsties no matter what their reading level or interest.
