At Grant Middle School, our 5th and 6th grade Dual Immersion Language Arts classes are more than just a place of learning—they are a beacon of hope and opportunity for over 80 remarkable students. Now in our second year, these young minds are blossoming into bilingual leaders, poised to make a profound impact on our future world. In a rural community facing significant challenges, including the highest homeless population in our county, our students rise above their circumstances, fueled by a passion for learning. Every book in our classroom is in Spanish, reflecting their dedication to mastering a second language. With a wide array of interests, our students crave access to diverse literature that can open doors to new worlds and ideas. However, with many coming from low socioeconomic backgrounds and receiving free and reduced lunch, they lack the resources many others take for granted.
