Hey there! My name is Melissa, and I teach 7th—and 8th-grade English Language Arts. I've started this campaign to improve our classroom library and get more books into the hands of my students. One of the best things about teaching Language Arts is when a student finds a book they can't put down. It can be challenging to match the right book with the right reader. Some of my students love novels, others are into nonfiction, and some are still looking for that perfect story. I want all my students to be able to explore the classroom library and find a story that really speaks to them. Everyone has different life experiences, interests, and reading levels, so we need a wide variety of books in our library! I would love to look at my class during independent reading time and see everyone engrossed in a story. The best way to do this is by filling our classroom library with diverse books across different reading levels. We're talking about classic novels, exciting fiction, nonfiction books on the topics that engage my students, graphic novels, and lots more.
