My students are 4th grade special education students working two or more grade levels below their peers. Some are still learning basic kindergarten sight words. We are a Title 1 low income community school with a heavy Hispanic population. Several of my students are also struggling to learn a second language as well. I would love to be able to provide books in my class library that have are disguised to look like grade level books. Books a struggling reader is not embarrassed to pick up because the cover shows a “baby’s book”. Books are now disguised to look age/grade appropriate while on the inside still meet the needs of those individual learners. You can help put a smile on the face of a blooming reader and on yourself knowing you helped a child break through and learn to READ! So many doors will open for them after that.
