Students and teachers are taking on an entirely new role as virtual partners in learning. We have shifted our classrooms online, shared read alouds through video, coached students on fluency through virtual feedback, and given encouragement to read via links to various programs. It's been a hard journey, but one that students are taking on in stride. Moving forward in this new educational landscape, I see the need for students to have more physical books in their hands while at home. Some assignments have been tough or at times impossible because of students' lack of access to the digital learning materials. Even if students do have some books at home, the variety, genre, or level is limited. My students need the selection and variety of our classroom library. While some families have the means to get this to their children, others aren't able to do so on their own. Please help me provide a variety of books for my students to have at home so that we can keep their love of reading going while apart!
