Teacher Cindy Bunch
Hello! My name is Ms. Bunch, and this fall I begin my first year teaching 4th grade at YTE Houston. I love to read and I love to talk about the content of good books with all of my students. Currently, my school does not have a school library. Instead, YTE has individual classroom libraries, and I was dismayed to find my classroom library only has a shelf of about 30 titles. THIS IS NOT ENOUGH! Sadly, with less than one small shelf of books, our class of 28 students will each have access to 1-2 books before that shelf is empty! KIDS NEED MORE! That is why I want to purchase more books. Not just any books, but books that are interesting and grade appropriate. I believe students need choice and enough books to sustain a year-long supply of titles that will keep each student engaged in the art of reading. Reading builds a pathway for students to expand their vocabulary, spell better, and experience life from the viewpoint of many characters. A good library can also share new ideas and factual information to help explain the details of our world and the people living in it. I believe every child needs to READ to SUCCEED! Please HELP me create a classroom library that sparks a love of reading and engages students in the art of exploring their desire to read. Help me provide enough good books to keep my students coming back to the shelf. Help create a collection of books my students will want to read. Provide them with the means to READ independently EVERY DAY. This year, help my 4th-grade students READ to SUCCEED! Thank you for helping.
