My name is Kristen Mayher and I currently teach Language Arts and Social Studies to the most impressive group of third graders in the Elyria City Schools! My students have a thirst for knowledge and a hunger to learn. They are a diverse group of learners with varying ability levels. Many of my students come from disadvantaged homes with hard-working parents who are struggling to make ends meet. They show up for me and that is why I will do everything in my power to provide them with the best educational experience I can. Setting the "stage to engage" sometimes comes at a cost and that is where I need your help and generosity. I would like to be able to purchase at least 1 book a month for each of my students during the school year. Your donation would allow me to do this! I plan to create a "Book Fairy Box" where the newly-ordered books would be placed each month when they arrive. During my class, the "Book Fairy Box" would be opened and each student would have the exciting opportunity to come forward and select a new book to keep forever. It is going to feel like Christmas each time the box arrives and I can guarantee my students will be smiling ear to ear!
