As a school librarian, my goal is to give every student access to appropriate reading material. In the past, I have opened my school library all through the summer to allow my students access to books. This year, I will not be able to reopen my library until fall, at the earliest. I teach in a very high poverty school with over 90% of students qualifying for free and reduced lunch. I have scraped up some grant money to begin giving students books by leaving them on their doorstep. My goal is to give every student at least one book.
