Happy Summer! I am Beth Palombo and I teach 4th and 5th grade ELA in a title 1 school with high poverty levels. We are a title 1 school, in a district that doesn’t have funds for projects because of lack of tax revenue. Covid-19 has made this an even bigger challenge. We do not have any kind of big box business to generate tax money to help us with this growing problem. I would like to put at least 4 chapter books a year in the hands of my students to increase their love of reading and knowledge. Most of our books are tattered and well loved in a very small library. Most Student do not have books or materials in the home. It is important for students to have books that are theirs so they can be reread and written in for notes and recall. Please take into consideration to fund our students to have books in their hands! I would also like to have teaching materials to go with the books, so that each student can read to the deepest dept of understanding. One the high lights of my students year is the book fair.
