Hello, and thank you for taking interest in my campaign! I am a teacher in middle school who works with all English Learners. One of the greatest challenges in learning the English language is developing vocabulary. Reading high interest novels and magazines is an excellent way to do just that. My goal is to put a new book of choice in each of my student's hands each month. In order to do this, it is necessary to build a diverse (subjects, genres, reading levels) classroom library. Although I would love to do this on my own, I do not have the financial means to do so. I feel strongly that reading selections chosen by the reader increases the likelihood the student will read independently. This is a key component in both language development and social development in that students frequently converse about their interests and activities. Please help me reach my goal to help our students become better readers, learners, and contributors to our community.
