I am an elementary gifted and talent development specialist for students in a grades K - 5 STEM school. I would love to grow our classroom library to include a plethora of books with many fiction and nonfiction stories about people who match my students' wide variety of skin color, ethnic backgrounds, family situations, etc. I would love it if each of my students could make real connections with the characters and the real people in the pages of the books in my classroom. I also would like my bright and beautiful students to be able to learn about and discuss other cultures and perspectives by reading books from our classroom library.
