I teach in a Title 1 school in Billings, Montana. My diverse students often don't have many books in their home, and they rarely have books that represent them. Many of the students I teach are Native American and there aren't a lot of books in my classroom library or our school library that represent their lives. I would love to begin putting books into the hands of the students at my school that not only represent them, but reflect the diversity of their heritage. I would...read more start by doing "book talks" myself, and then teaching them how to do a book talk themself for the class, whether it be in a distance learning format or in person. I would also like to host a "book tasting," where students can explore books and see what they think, like in a library or bookstore.
