A scary statistic is the number of times parents read to their children under the age of 12. It is only about once a week. Reading daily to children increases language and literacy skills. So, I'd like to increase that number by providing books in homes. Parents are struggling to pay bills and groceries and don't have the money to buy books. I'd like to provide real books that children can hold in their hands, turn the pages, reread, discuss story elements, discuss author purpose, type of book, and many other topics.
