Hello, my name is Donnalyn Gaines. I teach 2nd grade at Crescent Academy in Southfield, Michigan. My school is a Title 1 school with majority of our students being bused in from Detroit. Many of our students are below the poverty line, so buying books is often not in the budget. I'd like to give my 20 gifted student $20 worth of books for them to read over the summer. My wish is for them to enjoy their books, thus decreasing the "summer slide" many teachers see in reading and to foster an appreciation of generosity that can be given by strangers.
