As many of you know, I teach reading intervention strategies and ELA to 7th/8th graders who come to me from a rainbow of cultural and racial diversity. Many of my students do not have the resources for a home library and sometimes not even a single title to read at home. While I encourage all of my students to own and use a community library card, many of them cannot access these libraries due to the recent pandemic. All who know me well can tell anyone about my lifelong pursuit of getting books into the hands of my students. I have done this for some years using my own funds but now find myself needing some assistance from others who understand that the more students read the more successful they are in all other pursuits. This is a life-long quest that I pray will begin for many in my classroom. I need your help to make this happen. I thank you in advance for any amount you feel called to donate to this extremely worthy cause especially now as we wait to see if we will be meeting face-to-face in our classroom this fall!
