Description

These easy, step-by-step lessons show teachers how to use the interactive whiteboard to engage students in learning excellent writing craft techniques with models of strong writing. Expert writing teacher Lola Schaefer covers all the essentials-organizing, setting a strong focus, writing convincing leads, and more! Includes tips for both Promethean and SMART Board users, plus model lessons that are ready to be used on screen!

How to use this product:

Save Those Words
One of the great advantages of the interactive whiteboard is that you can have two activities going on simultaneously. During these mini-lessons on vocabulary, you can move from the vocabulary sample to an empty white screen. On the white screen, ask students to use a pen from the tray and select a color to list the specific words that they would like to use more often in their own speaking and writing. You could even use one pen color for nouns, another for verbs, and so forth. You don't necessarily want students to list all of the words in the samples, just the ones that grab them as readers and thinkers. At the end of the mini-lesson, review the words that students wrote on the whiteboard and provide time for them to copy any of these into their writer's notebooks.
