The bright, saturated colors in a big bowl of fruit—red and green apples, yellow bananas and lemons, green limes, purple grapes and plums, and of course, orange oranges—are a great way to spark a discussion about this topic. Invite children to hold the different pieces of fruit, and then to find items in the classroom that are the same color. How many different shades of the same color can children find?
