As her middle school's official Friendship Matchmaker, Lara Zany helps students find friends using her hard-and-fast rules on everything from fashion to cafeteria etiquette. All of her classmates come to her for advice, words of wisdom, and the occasional FIMS (Friendship Intervention Mediation Session). Of course, Lara's too busy sorting out other people's friendships to have any friends of her own, but she's an LBC (Loner By Choice), which is completely different from a TL (Total Loner).
Then a new girl named Emily Wong arrives at Lara's school. She's a unique individual who doesn't care what people think — and she refuses to follow Lara's rules! In fact, she thinks Lara is giving everyone at school bad advice. Determined to prove each other wrong, the girls decide to have a competition: Each girl will use her own rules to find a friend for a TL! May the best Friendship Matchmaker win...
This funny reimagining of Jane Austen's Emma is sure to delight middle-school readers.
