This lesson introduces children to picture graphs. Children look at the title of the picture graph (for example, “Favorite Shapes in a Classroom”) to see what type of information is shown on the graph, as well as the categories (circle, diamond, heart, and star) and the number of pictures in each category. After studying various picture graphs, children answer questions related to the information shown on each graph.
This PowerPoint lesson is a multi-click animation sequence that introduces standards-based math skills and concepts. Also includes three practice pages at levels A (below grade level), B (at grade level), and C (above grade level), which may be distributed according to students' abilities.
