Little Bunny Foo Foo Reading Activity

Nov 28, 2012

What you need:

  • Little Bunny Foo Foo, illustrated by Paul Brett Johnson
  • Two or three sheets of paper
  • Pencils, crayons, or other drawing materials
  • Glue or paste
  • Glitter, cotton balls, colored paper, pipe cleaners, and other decorative items

 Reading tips:

  1. This book is based on the classic children's song "Little Bunny Foo Foo," and follows the misbehaving bunny as he repeatedly ignores the Good Fairy's warnings.

  2. As you read, ask your child if you think Little Bunny Foo Foo will heed the Good Fairy's warnings. What visual clues did he use to decide?

  3. After reading the story once through, use the printed lyrics at the back of the book to teach your child the song. Then practice singing the song with the hand movements!

  4. Try reading the book again, but this time let your child sing the chorus each time it appears.

To extend the reading:

  1. Draw a picture of a bunny on a blank page. You can trace Little Bunny Foo Foo from the book or create your own bunny.

  2. Let your child color the bunny.

  3. After the bunny is done, use the cotton balls, glitter, glue, and pipe cleaners to transform each bunny into a goon. The sillier the better!
