All Response to Intervention (RTI) models show core instruction as the foundation of teaching reading. As schools face the challenges of implementing RTI, however, they are discovering that many of the problems they face actually relate to their core instruction. This book provides practical, research-based support to help teachers in grades K–5 improve their core instruction and manage the three tiers of intervention that comprise RTI. The authors also include manageable ideas for monitoring students' progress and interventions strategies for each RTI tier.
Examples of Tier I Intervention:
• Any reteaching lesson
• Review lessons
• Jump-start lessons where you provide teaching in advance of reading for a certain group or individual
• Any alternative or additional lessons designed to help students achieve success within the core instruction
