It's 1943, and twelve-year-old Lily Tregenza lives in an idyllic seaside village in England. Lily's life is scarcely touched by the war . . . until she and her family, along with 3,000 other villagers, are ordered to evacuate their homes to allow the Allied forces to practice their landings for D-day. IBut Adolphus Tips, Lily's adored cat, decides to have her kittens in a restricted, barbed wired area. Lily meets two American soldiers that not only promise to help her rescue her cat, but become life-changing friends.
