Sing a song of sight words! With this super collection of songs and mini-books, kids get lots of practice in reading and writing 35 key sight words. Each song—sung to a familiar tune—features one or more sight words and comes with a fill-in-the-blank mini-book that provides multiple opportunities to write each targeted word. After completing the mini-book, children can read along as they sing the song again and again. A super way to build sight word recognition, boost reading fluency, and reinforce spelling.
Sight Word Puzzles Create these puzzles by tracing large stencils to spell out the word on a half-sheet of 8 ½- by 11-inch paper. Or use your computer’s word art program to create an enlarged sample of the word. Then laminate the page, puzzle-cut it into several pieces, and put the pieces in a large envelope labeled with the target word. Place the puzzles in a center for children to assemble, or invite them to use the puzzles when they have a few extra minutes to fill between activities. If desired, let children make their own word puzzles to share with family and friends!
